Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Investment Oversight Analyst to enhance our dynamic team.

Margetts operates as an Authorised Corporate Director (ACD) for a diverse array of UK UCITS and NURS Collective Investment Schemes, with this role concentrating on the supervision of these schemes and their designated Investment Advisers.

The Investment Oversight Analyst will be an integral part of the Investment Oversight function, reporting directly to the Investment Oversight Manager. This function is tasked with the investment and risk supervision of all funds and their appointed managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily assessments of relevant Investment and Borrowing Powers and prospectus regulations, collaborating with the Compliance team and investment managers as necessary.
  • Assist in the analysis and recommendations for the annual Assessment of Value report.
  • Facilitate the execution and ongoing enhancement of due diligence processes for both new and existing Investment Advisers.
  • Produce high-quality Management Information (MI) and pursue process efficiencies.
  • Prepare MI for Committee meetings that address areas such as Investment Risk, Valuation, and Liquidity Oversight.
  • Contribute to the development of Business As Usual (BAU) processes and ongoing project initiatives.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in an investment oversight or investment analyst capacity within a regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with ACD/AFM operations and related functions, including depositary, fund pricing, and compliance.
  • Comprehension of key investment risks and methodologies for their measurement.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, particularly the FCA's COLL sourcebook.
  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of controls and provide suitable recommendations for enhancements.
  • Capability to challenge internal and external subject matter experts appropriately.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and financial data software (Morningstar, Bloomberg, FE).
  • Possession of relevant professional qualifications such as IOC, IMC, CFA, or CISI.
  • If not already obtained, there will be an expectation to pursue and complete the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) qualification following a probation period, to demonstrate fundamental investment knowledge and competence.

Margetts serves as an Authorised Corporate Director (ACD) for multiple ranges of regulated retail funds, managing approximately £9Bn. The managed funds encompass multi-manager, direct equity, mixed investments, derivatives, and property.

An ACD is authorized by the Financial Conduct Authority to establish and manage Collective Investment Schemes (Funds). The responsibilities of an ACD include maintaining a register of investors, overseeing client money settlements, arranging asset custody, and valuing the assets held by funds to determine buying and selling prices.
