As a Purchasing Assistant at Tesco, you will be integral to our team, collaborating closely with a Buying Manager to ensure we curate and deliver the most commercially viable and profitable product ranges that cater to our customers' preferences.
This role is ideal for individuals with prior experience as a Purchasing Assistant who are seeking their next career advancement.

Your Responsibilities
Providing essential purchasing support to ensure the department operates efficiently, including preparing reports and analyses for your Manager. Gaining insights into customer preferences, market trends, and competitor activities. Assisting in sourcing products for the department, collaborating with International sourcing teams. Identifying potential new products and suppliers. Reviewing existing suppliers and assessing their performance with guidance. Negotiating supplier agreements (including returns) to enhance the trading position sustainably. Supporting category merchandising colleagues in the trade planning process. Working with suppliers and the technical team to ensure product quality is consistently achieved and maintained. Managing product samples, including acquisition from suppliers, storage, and disposal. Coordinating with HSC Admin to ensure new products and suppliers are set up accurately and promptly. Maintaining departmental systems and trackers (including Buyer View, EQOS, Range Plan), ensuring accuracy and timely updates. Loading Commercial Income and ensuring correct invoicing for our suppliers. Reviewing and sharing product returns, identifying opportunities for product enhancement. Adhering to our Business Code of Conduct, always acting with integrity and due diligence.Required Qualifications
Experience in retail (preferably multi-channel). A passion for products. Strong analytical and report preparation skills. Proficiency in data analysis and numeracy.
