Position Overview

Band 6 Physiotherapist - Respiratory Care Unit

An excellent opportunity has emerged to become a part of our dedicated team within the Respiratory Care Unit. This position is crucial in assisting patients with intricate respiratory requirements, including non-invasive ventilation and tracheostomy care. You will acquire expertise in advanced airway management, complex discharge processes, and play a vital role in fostering patient recovery and rehabilitation.

Our facility is recognized as a leading specialist center for respiratory treatment, featuring a dedicated unit for cardiorespiratory admissions. We also provide services in Cardio-Thoracic surgery, Renal care, and adult congenital Cardiac Surgery. Our extensive Critical Care unit includes ECMO capabilities, alongside a regional specialist unit for adult Cystic Fibrosis and Bronchiectasis.

Key Responsibilities

You will collaborate with a well-established team of Physiotherapists to enhance your clinical, leadership, educational, and service development competencies while working in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Your role will involve demonstrating effective communication, prioritization, and organizational skills within a large multidisciplinary team, while managing a complex clinical caseload from initial assessment through to discharge or transfer of care.

Regular supervision and performance evaluations will be provided, and you will actively participate in service enhancement, audits, research, and evidence-based practices.

Job Duties

  • Manage a complex clinical caseload from assessment to discharge/transfer of care, ensuring timely and safe patient transitions.
  • Plan, implement, and advance treatment interventions utilizing clinical reasoning and decision-making skills to achieve defined patient objectives.
  • Facilitate annual performance reviews and personal development planning for relevant members of the Physiotherapy Team.
  • Participate in the onboarding process for new Physiotherapy staff.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma/BSc/MSc in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registration

Experience

Essential

  • Recent substantial clinical experience at a Band 5 level
  • Postgraduate experience in a relevant clinical area

Desirable

  • Experience in supervising others

Communication Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrated effective written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills

Desirable

  • Evidence of collaboration within a multidisciplinary team
