Locum Practice Nurse

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer vaccinations to patients of all ages, including childhood immunizations, flu vaccines, and travel vaccinations, while following best practices for patient safety.
  • Assess and manage wounds, including cleaning, dressing, and monitoring healing progress. Provide advice on wound care to patients and caregivers.
  • Support the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension through regular monitoring and patient education.
  • Provide advice and education on healthy living, disease prevention, and lifestyle choices. Participate in health promotion activities and clinics.
  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate care tailored to the needs of individual patients. Support patients with their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using the healthcare organization's electronic health record system.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, including GPs, healthcare assistants, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and protocols, including infection control, confidentiality, and safeguarding.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration.
  • Proven experience in a primary care or healthcare setting.
  • Competence in performing cervical smear tests, administering immunizations, and providing wound care and dressings.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a primary care or healthcare setting within the UK.
  • NMC registration.
