Continuous Improvement and Maintenance Excellence Manager
Pertemps Bond is seeking a dedicated leader for the role of Maintenance Excellence and Continuous Improvement Manager.
The primary responsibility of this position is to uphold and enhance the integrity of production and quality systems through the effective management of machinery, equipment, processes, and personnel that contribute to business success.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM with a 1-hour lunch break | Additional hours may be necessary based on business requirements.
Compensation: £50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Establish and implement essential engineering processes aligned with the Engineering Road Map.
- Strive to deliver the most cost-effective maintenance program to fulfill site demands for safety, quality, and performance.
- Plan, enhance, and execute maintenance of site equipment to boost reliability.
- Possess in-depth knowledge and a proven history of developing and implementing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Drive the people agenda, focusing on talent development and ensuring individuals possess the necessary competencies and behaviors within the department.
- Analyze operations to develop recommendations regarding failures and production losses, identifying and implementing solutions to enhance systems, standard work, and processes.
- Lead and implement proactive maintenance, reliability initiatives, production excellence, and continuous improvement activities.
- Provide expertise in operational excellence, coaching teams on the application of principles and tools.
- Support the implementation of smart factory software to enhance reliability and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Communicate effectively to report on the status of production lines and equipment based on OEE metrics.
- Lead, coach, and guide teams to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements.
- Facilitate annual Criticality Matrix reviews.
- Drive the execution of the Inventory Management Plan.
- Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Promote the use of root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques such as RCA, 5 Whys, and DMAIC.
- Foster a genuine continuous improvement culture within the department.
- Support the department's 5S plan.
- Champion reliability-centered maintenance and Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) activities.
- Provide leadership and development opportunities for the engineering team.
- Inspire the engineering team through effective leadership and coaching.
- Support the implementation of maintenance excellence initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to planned maintenance schedules through effective resource management.
- Analyze CMMS data to assist in forward planning and identify opportunities for equipment enhancements.
Required Skills:
- Experience collaborating with contractors, suppliers, and technical staff to troubleshoot and resolve root cause issues of nonconformities.
- Proven ability to plan engineering requirements and activities by establishing priorities, scheduling, assigning work, and maintaining regular communication with staff and key stakeholders.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Mainsaver PM, and proficiency in Office 365.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Significant experience in leading and developing teams.
- Understanding of quality standards and the impact of incidents on quality.
- Effective team player, influencer, and communicator.
- High levels of enthusiasm and passion for the role.
Essential Qualifications:
- Recognized Engineering Apprenticeship or an ONC/HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines, or a degree in a relevant field.
- If none of the above, a minimum Level 3 C&G with at least 5 years of experience in a similar industry.
- Experience in a maintenance environment.
- Strong logical decision-making abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload effectively.
- Capability to work under pressure.
