Role Overview

The energy landscape is rapidly evolving, and we're seeking a talented engineer to join our Transmissions and Distributions team. As a Substation Design Engineer, you'll work on engineering and construction projects in industrial, transmission/distribution, and renewable sectors. Your expertise will be essential in designing and implementing complex electrical networks, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our clients' systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design transmission protection systems for voltages up to kV, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Review and validate in-house designs and those produced by external contractors, ensuring they meet our high standards.
  • Develop and implement safe design and operation practices for electrical networks, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
  • Advise on design and design change issues, providing expert guidance to stakeholders.
  • Specialize in electrical engineering, with experience and knowledge of other engineering fields a significant advantage.
  • Manage Construction and Design Management (CDM) processes, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Lead site visits and non-intrusive surveys, identifying and mitigating risks to ensure project success.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our clients' systems.
  • Collaborate with clients, infrastructure planners, project resources, and other stakeholders to deliver projects that meet their needs and expectations.
Requirements
  • Proven technical expertise in power system protection, with experience in transmission voltage levels up to kV.
  • Strong understanding of IEC communication protocols and experience with computer-based packages, such as ASPEN OneLiner and ETAP.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical or commercial issues to peers and senior managers.
  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and developing working relationships quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to write clear and concise reports and proposals.
