Position Overview:

Are you passionate about contributing to an organization dedicated to combating online threats, such as violent extremism, gender-based violence, misinformation, and child exploitation? Do you possess relevant experience in this field and aspire to further your professional development?

Moonshot is on the lookout for an Arabic-speaking Research Analyst to join our new initiative. In this role, you will assist in the creation and execution of tailored programs aimed at engaging individuals at risk of online threats, primarily focusing on violent extremism, while also addressing other risks like gender-based violence and misinformation. Under supervision, you will aid in the development, execution, and upkeep of multi-platform pathways that connect at-risk individuals with intervention services. Additionally, you will contribute to enhancing our research methodologies and assist clients in comprehending online threats.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to the design, execution, and management of online outreach initiatives.
  • Identifying, gathering, and analyzing data from diverse sources, including social media, extremist content, and other resources utilizing our proprietary tools.
  • Creating both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to collect and interpret extensive datasets.
  • Preparing analytical reports and delivering presentations to clients, partner organizations, and key stakeholders.
  • Meeting demanding reporting timelines for clients.
  • Sharing expertise on violent extremism and online threats throughout the organization.
  • Assisting in business development by identifying and pursuing funding opportunities and fostering relationships with clients and partners.
  • Translating Arabic content into English.
  • Building connections with clients and exploring new project opportunities that align with their interests.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Proficient in reading and writing Arabic, with the ability to translate materials.
  • Experience in supporting digital communication campaigns, particularly in areas such as social media analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity building.
  • Professional or research background in countering violent extremism and/or related online threats.
  • Experience in conducting analysis and investigations using open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques.
  • Capability to sift through large volumes of data to identify key insights.
  • Skill in sourcing, interpreting, and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data, including social media information, and producing actionable reports.
  • Ability to perform under pressure, manage your workload effectively, and collaborate within a team.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and completion of DBS checks will be verified.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of data retrieval using software platform APIs and scraping tools.
  • Qualifications in quantitative methods for social sciences and specialized skills in data visualization, database management (SQL), Python, Tableau, or other analytical tools.
  • Deep familiarity with multiple social media platforms.
  • Professional or research experience analyzing the impact of social media platform design on content dissemination and user experience.
  • Experience in open-source research, online investigations, threat risk analysis, public safety, or law enforcement.
