About the Role

Moonshot is seeking an experienced Arabic language analyst to join our team as part of a new program of work. In this role, you will support the design and implementation of individualized programs aimed at reaching individuals at-risk of online harms, primarily violent extremism, but also including other areas of risk such as gender-based violence and disinformation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Implementation: Support the design and implementation of online outreach campaigns to reach individuals at-risk of online harms.
  • Data Analysis: Identify, collect, and analyze information from various data sources, including social media, violent extremist materials, and other data sources covered by our in-house tools.
  • Research Methodologies: Design and implement quantitative and qualitative research methods to collect and analyze large datasets.
  • Reporting and Presentations: Draft analytical reports and present findings verbally to clients, partner organizations, and key stakeholders.
  • High-Tempo Reporting: Work to demanding reporting schedules for clients.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Develop and share subject matter expertise related to violent extremism and online harms across the organization.
  • Business Development: Support our business development by identifying and applying for funding opportunities, building relationships with clients and partner organizations.
  • Translation and Communication: Translate Arabic text into English and develop effective communication strategies to engage with clients and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Language Skills: Fluent in reading and written Arabic text, including the ability to translate material.
  • Experience: Experience in supporting digital communications campaigns, ideally across one or more of the following topics: social media analysis, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, interventions.
  • Professional or Research Experience: Professional or research experience in countering violent extremism and/or other online harms.
  • OSINT Techniques: Professional or research experience of carrying out analysis and investigations using OSINT techniques.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to scan large volumes of data and identify the most valuable pieces of information.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Desirable Skills
  • Software Skills: Familiarity with/understanding of how to fetch data using software platform APIs and scraping tools.
  • Quantitative Methods: Qualifications in quantitative methods for social science and specialist quantitative skills, including data visualization, database management (SQL), Python, Tableau visualization, or other data analysis tool sets.
  • Social Media Platforms: Native user or has a deep understanding of multiple social media platforms.
  • Open-Source Research: Professional or research experience in open-source research, online investigations, threat risk analysis, public safety, or law enforcement.
