Position Overview:

Are you passionate about contributing to an organization that addresses online threats, including violent extremism, gender-based violence, misinformation, and child exploitation? Do you possess experience in this field or related areas and seek to expand your expertise?

Moonshot is seeking an Arabic-speaking Research Analyst to join our new initiative. In this capacity, you will assist in the creation and execution of tailored programs aimed at engaging individuals at risk of online threats, particularly violent extremism, as well as other risk areas such as gender-based violence and misinformation. Under supervision, you will help design, implement, and maintain cross-platform pathways that connect at-risk individuals with intervention services. Additionally, you will contribute to advancing our research methodologies and enhancing our clients' comprehension of online threats.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, execution, and upkeep of online outreach initiatives.
  • Identify, gather, and analyze data from various sources, including social media, extremist content, and other data accessible through our proprietary tools.
  • Develop quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to collect and analyze extensive datasets.
  • Prepare analytical reports and present findings to clients, partner organizations, and key stakeholders.
  • Adhere to strict reporting timelines for clients.
  • Share and develop expertise related to violent extremism and online threats across the organization.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying and pursuing funding opportunities and fostering relationships with clients and partners.
  • Translate Arabic texts into English.
  • Establish connections with clients and explore potential new project opportunities that align with their interests.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Proficient in reading and writing Arabic, with the ability to translate materials.
  • Experience in supporting digital communication campaigns, particularly in areas such as social media analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity building.
  • Professional or research experience in countering violent extremism and/or addressing online threats.
  • Experience conducting analysis and investigations using open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques.
  • Capability to sift through large volumes of data to identify key insights.
  • Ability to source, interpret, and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data, including social media metrics, and produce actionable reports.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure, manage your workload effectively, and collaborate within a team.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and completion of necessary background checks will be verified.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with data retrieval using software platform APIs and scraping tools.
  • Qualifications in quantitative methods for social sciences and proficiency in data visualization, database management (SQL), Python, Tableau, or other analytical tools.
  • In-depth understanding of multiple social media platforms.
  • Experience analyzing the impact of social media platform design on content dissemination and user experience.
  • Professional experience in open-source research, online investigations, threat risk analysis, public safety, or law enforcement.
