Role Overview

In the capacity of an Alternative Provision Officer, you will be instrumental in assisting children, young individuals, and their families who require alternative educational options.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating in-year admission applications with careful consideration of each student's unique needs and circumstances.
  • Preparing comprehensive case files for the In Year Fair Access Protocol (IYFAP) and Alternative Provision (AP) review, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all pertinent information.
  • Serving as a primary resource for families, providing expert guidance on the in-year admission process and available educational alternatives.
  • Collaborating with both internal departments and external organizations to devise innovative solutions that lead to positive outcomes for those requiring alternative provision.
  • Utilizing your exceptional communication skills to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including families and professional partners.

Qualifications Required:

  • In-depth knowledge of Signs of Safety and a practical understanding of solution-focused methodologies.
  • Experience in direct engagement with children, young people, and their families.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively connect with various audiences.
  • Ability to identify and respond to Child Protection and risk-related issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable individuals.

About the Team
You will be part of the Alternative Provision team within our Inclusion service. We collaborate across various internal departments and external partners to develop solutions and create positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families who need access to alternative educational options.
