About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Front End Software Engineer II to join our team at Rightmove. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality software and products that meet the needs of our users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing Features and Improvements: You will work with our team to develop and implement new features and improvements to our applications, using technologies such as Typescript, React, Next, Node, Kubernetes, and Gitlab.
  • Collaboration and Communication: You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and the team to find solutions to complex problems and contribute to key decisions, including which features to include during team sprints.
  • Estimating and Reviewing Code: You will estimate user stories and review other developers' code, debating options as a team to ensure high-quality solutions.
  • Investigating and Promoting New Technologies: You will investigate and promote the latest emergent technologies to improve the way the team works.
  • Agile Environment: You will work in an Agile environment, collaborating with the team to deliver quality solutions that satisfy millions of users.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: You will coach and mentor less experienced engineers to help them develop their technical skills.
Requirements
  • Problem-Solving Skills: You will have great problem-solving skills and be enthusiastic about the importance of testing, promoting TDD, and having experience with react testing frameworks like Jest and React testing library.
  • Delivering High-Quality Code: You will enjoy delivering high-quality code and like to debate the merits of different solutions.
  • Performance and User Experience: You will have a keen interest in the performance of live applications and how our users use them.
  • Latest Technologies: You will want to use the latest technologies and take initiative to improve the way the team works.
  • Sharing Knowledge: You will look to share your knowledge with the rest of the product development team.
  • Ownership and Responsibility: You will have a sense of ownership and responsibility for the work you and your team deliver.
