Job Overview

We are seeking to recruit two Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) to join our Board of Directors and utilize their skills, knowledge, and experience to help us achieve our strategic ambitions and deliver high-quality care for our patients.

We are looking for one Non-Executive Director with significant clinical skills and experience, who will be a member of our Quality Governance Committee and also undertake the important role of Board Maternity Safety Champion.

We are also seeking one Non-Executive Director with a sound knowledge of NHS finance who can support us to be as efficient and effective as possible, delivering value for money while striving to continue to enhance the quality of our services.

Main Duties of the Job
  1. Contribute to the development of core strategies, setting the strategic direction for the Trust.
  2. Seek assurance over the delivery of strategies, including the appropriate prioritization of the Trust's resource allocation.
  3. Provide constructive challenge and support to hold the Chief Executive and Executive Directors to account and support effective decision-making as part of a unitary Board.
  4. Seek assurance over the performance of the Trust.
  5. Develop positive and productive relationships with the Council of Governors, supporting Governor colleagues to hold Non-Executive Directors to account for the performance of the Board.
  6. Seek assurance that the patient voice informs the work of the Board.
  7. Be a visible leader, embodying the values of the Trust and its clinically-led and management-supported philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the quality of care and services provided by the Trust.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the Board and Executive Directors on matters related to clinical governance and patient safety.
  • Work closely with the Quality Governance Committee to ensure that the Trust's quality improvement initiatives are effective and sustainable.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the development of the Trust's annual business plan and budget.

  • Clinical Qualification or Sound Knowledge of NHS Finance
