Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to join our team as the Head of Governance and Quality at Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to ensure effective governance mechanisms are in place within the corporate areas and divisions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Implement and sustain the Trust's quality governance programmes, including fulfilling the role of the Trust's Medical Devices Safety Officer (MDSO).
  • Coordinate and lead the Trust's risk and incident management, litigation, patient safety, and regulatory compliance functions within the divisions and corporate areas.
  • Work across multiple divisions and corporately to plan and implement effective service developments, managing colleagues within the Quality Governance department.
  • Investigate and lead the learning responses for the Trust's most serious incidents, implementing associated learning and ensuring long-term implementation of learning from safety alerts, audits, and incidents.
  • Manage the Trust's patient safety-related information assets and lead on the ongoing review and updates of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).

Leadership and Management

  • Represent and deputise for the Associate Director of Quality & Governance, attending internal and external meetings related to the quality governance agenda.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring support to the wider Governance Team to support their personal and professional development.
  • Engage staff in the promotion of staff wellbeing and ensure staff development and training takes place.
  • Manage the performance and contribution of direct reports, ensuring high standards of people management.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Manage the budgets for the Quality Governance Department in accordance with Trust Financial Standing Instructions.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in quality governance in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience of delivering a Risk Management Strategy and associated trust-wide training.
  • Experience of effectively delivering a full range of quality governance functions across multiple services.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership and experience of managing staff and performance across multiple teams.
  • Experience of writing and presenting reports at senior management and board level.
  • Experience of effective negotiation and influencing skills, including senior leadership and executive teams.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience of national regulatory frameworks, national quality agenda, and current emerging issues.
  • Expert-level knowledge of the critical factors in delivering improvement in governance standards.
