Position Overview
We are pleased to announce a unique opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist focused on Cytosponge Services. This role is structured as a full-time position, operating Monday through Friday, within a dynamic healthcare environment.
The Cytosponge Service at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is on an exciting trajectory of growth. We seek a candidate who demonstrates outstanding organizational and clinical capabilities, along with a sincere passion for cytosponge procedures and the enhancement of our service offerings.
We invite applications from registered nurses at Band 5 and above, who possess a minimum of two years of post-registration experience within the NHS, including at least one year in Gastroenterology or Endoscopy. Ideal candidates will be innovative, dedicated, and exhibit a robust background in this specialty, complemented by exceptional leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities
The Cytosponge procedure is administered to patients on the symptomatic pathway experiencing routine reflux, as well as those already scheduled for Barrett's oesophagus surveillance.
This multifaceted role encompasses:
- Patient vetting and selection
- Conducting triage clinics
- Overseeing the cytosponge capsule clinic
- Follow-up care and management
In addition to supporting the nursing team in delivering a safe, efficient, and patient-centered service, you will strive to achieve optimal outcomes for both patients and staff. Your role will also involve contributing to quality and governance initiatives, ensuring adherence to the audit program.
