Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager - Section (Aggregates & Asphalt) to join our team at Tarmac Trading Limited. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all quarrying operations on site, while also providing assistance to the Asphalt plant.
Main Responsibilities- Manage and be accountable for all quarrying operations on site, ensuring compliance with business policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirements.
- Provide assistance to the Asphalt plant, ensuring seamless operations and efficient production.
- Lead and manage a highly skilled team, ensuring business continuity and reducing business risk.
- Develop and implement change and continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining disciplined stock management processes and producing operational reports.
- Understand and apply different methods of winning and extracting raw materials, as well as techniques employed to load extracted minerals and transport them to their applications within the industry.
- Manage all aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operations, maintaining and implementing existing and new Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments, and training staff on the same.
- Oversee the safe operation of the plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all site equipment, fixed and mobile, with responsibility for your own safety and that of colleagues and business partners.
- Report and investigate any unsafe or hazardous working practices, issuing safety briefings and toolbox talks to your operational team.
- Manage proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of your staff, maintaining an up-to-date training matrix.
- Collate and report on monthly performance KPIs for your business unit, driving operational performance through KPIs.
- Ensure appropriate contractor and visitor inductions are carried out in line with company procedures.
- Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Extractives Technology
- SHE NVQ Level 4/QCF Level 6
- Highly experienced in Quarrying Operations/Asphalt operations
- IOSH/NEBOSH would be advantageous
- Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems
- Working knowledge of production processes, H&S and Environmental policies
- Strong IT skills, including a high level of competence with SAP and the Microsoft packages Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to multitask and manage change
