Job Summary

Castleton Commodities International LLC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Trader to join our team. As a Senior Power Trader, you will be responsible for ensuring daily and/or hourly balancing on all energy market areas, managing scheduling activities and related processes, and maintaining and managing company's licensing status and relationship with the relevant system operators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market Balancing: Ensure daily and/or hourly balancing on all energy market areas to optimize trading opportunities and minimize risks.
  • Scheduling and Nominations: Manage scheduling activities and related processes, including natural gas and power scheduling, to ensure accurate and timely nominations.
  • Licensing and Compliance: Maintain and manage company's licensing status and relationship with the relevant system operators to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Position Management: Timely physical position management and accurate systems booking of actualization events to ensure optimal trading positions.
  • Communication: Ensure transparent, concise, and timely communication with the different commercial teams regarding physical positions, possible curtailments, and any maintenance events.
  • Project Management: Coordinate communication/work with the relevant internal and external parties, including trading desk, counterparties, operations, IT, finance, risk, legal, and various other business partners.
  • Onboarding and Setup: Onboard and setup new activities, including transportation, NG Swing, or storage contracts, through thorough lifecycle testing.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reporting on performance and operational risk metrics and develop ad-hoc operational analysis reports.
  • Efficiency Improvement: Generate and lead efficiency improvement projects to optimize trading processes and minimize costs.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in European power and gas markets, with previous roles in scheduling natural gas and/or power.
  • Qualifications: Strong quantitative and analytical skills, prior experience with ETRMs (including system configuration), Triple Point (CXL) preferred.
  • Skills: Experience with tools in managing position scheduling and main nomination/scheduling related portals, good IT skills (Excel, VBA, SQL or Python) a plus.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to perform under pressure with a high motivation/energy level and manage multiple tasks to established deadlines.
  • Availability: Ability to work weekend rotation schedule – 1 to 2 weekends per month, but subject to change based on business needs.
