As a Shift Trader, you will play a crucial role in maximizing value from the Intraday Power market. You will execute trades to manage Octopus' exposure on its multi-billion pound hedge book, optimize flexible assets in the short-term market, and trade the changing forecasts of our PPA portfolio.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced analytical tools to make informed and profitable trading decisions within the Intraday Power market.
  • Manage Octopus' exposure by executing trades on its substantial hedge book.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to optimize flexible assets in the short-term market, generating additional value for the company.
  • Analyze and trade the evolving forecasts of our Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) portfolio, mitigating risk and maximizing returns.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our analytical suite by providing valuable feedback and insights.
  • Collaborate with the Trading Manager to ensure a comprehensive understanding of short-term exposure risks across the organization.

Your Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in commodity trading or a related field, ideally 1+ year.
  • A genuine passion for the energy transition and the role of grid flexibility in decarbonization.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to synthesize numerical information and make quick, informed decisions.
  • A strong desire to learn the intricacies of the power market and become a top-performing trader.
  • A competitive spirit and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • The capacity to maintain focused attention on the market, even during periods of low volatility.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
