Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Carbon and Power Trader to join our team in London.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market make, manage risk, and keep senior staff informed of current risk positions.
  • Implement optimal trading strategies on carbon and power assets.
  • Interact with OTC/listed brokers to ensure best execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with trading counterparties.
  • Monitor market levels and competitor pricing, mark trading books, and reconcile risk and profit/loss figures.
  • Keep trading books within required risk limits.
  • Develop technical, market, product, and technological expertise.
  • Act as subject matter expert on carbon and power within the bank.
  • Coordinate with support units to set up new instruments/tools.
  • Work with operations teams to handle settlement and delivery of financial and physical carbon and power contracts.
  • Actively promote the carbon and power franchise with sales teams.
  • Assist in the automation and digitization of the carbon and power business.
Requirements
  • Experience in carbon and power trading is essential.
  • Strong understanding of emissions trading schemes in the EU and UK.
  • Solid comprehension of the carbon voluntary market.
  • Sharp technical expertise in energy derivatives contracts.
  • Solid problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong commercial mindset and high communication skills.
  • High entrepreneurial attitude required to develop a business.
  • Excellent P&L track record.
  • Education to degree level in mathematics, physics, engineering, econometrics, or similar highly quantitative discipline.
