Croydon Council is seeking a highly skilled Democratic Services Governance Officer to join our high-performing Democratic Services and Scrutiny Team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering an efficient Democratic Services function, ensuring these areas run smoothly, effectively, and support the wider goals of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting Agendas and Minutes: Draft agendas and minutes of meetings and ensure they are published at the appropriate time and in accordance with relevant statutory deadlines.
  • Representing the Service: Attend meetings as the representative of the service where Councillors/Members are present.
  • Providing Guidance: Confidently advise the Chair of meetings on the running of the meeting and interpretation of local government regulations and the Council's Procedure Rules.
  • Monitoring Decisions: Monitor and record decisions of Committees and Sub-Committees to ensure they are made correctly and are compliant with local government laws and regulations.
  • Administrative Support: Assist the Democratic Service Team with administrative tasks as required.
