Job Description

Nexere Consulting is seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Democratic Services and Scrutiny Manager. This position is open to both permanent and contract candidates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a welcoming and diverse Democratic Services and Scrutiny Team, embracing change-makers and problem-solvers.
  • Provide expert technical advice to officers and members on committee services, including licensing and planning, the mayor's office, cabinet office, statutory appeals, and member services.
  • Exhibit strong management skills, providing clear leadership and direction to the team.
  • Develop a clear vision of excellence in democratic services and a passion for helping the council achieve it.
  • Offer significant flexibility, including options for remote work, with committee meetings held in the evenings on site.
Requirements:
  • Possess a solid understanding of local government and the decision-making process.
  • Have a proven track record and extensive experience as the primary contact for democratic services within a local authority.
  • Exhibit strong management skills with the capacity to provide clear leadership and direction to the team.
  • Have a clear vision of what excellence in democratic services looks like and a passion for helping the council achieve it.
