We are seeking a seasoned Democratic Services and Scrutiny Manager to lead our welcoming and diverse Democratic Services and Scrutiny Team. This role covers a range of responsibilities including committee services, the mayor's office, cabinet office, statutory appeals, the scrutiny function, and member services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert technical advice to officers and members on local government and the decision-making process.
  • Lead the team with strong management skills, providing clear leadership and direction.
  • Develop a clear vision of excellence in democratic services and drive the council towards achieving it.
  • Support committee meetings, which are held in the evenings on site, and provide additional allowance for each evening meeting attended.

This position is ideal for an experienced team manager seeking a new challenge or career advancement, potentially through a fixed-term secondment if that better suits your current situation.
