We are seeking a dedicated Consultant in Community Paediatrics to fulfill the role of Medical Advisor for Adoption Services within our esteemed organization.
This role encompasses an eight PA commitment with no out-of-hours on-call responsibilities. The successful candidate will join a robust community team focused on providing comprehensive care to children with diverse needs.
Our department prides itself on a strong medical team specializing in Children Looked After, supported by experienced nursing staff and effective administrative resources. We offer exceptional training opportunities in neurodisability and safeguarding, with the flexibility to create a personalized timetable that aligns with the candidate's professional interests.
If you possess a background in Community Paediatrics and have experience working with Children Looked After, we encourage you to consider this opportunity. Strong clinical skills, effective communication abilities, and a collaborative spirit are essential for this role.
The position will be based in a newly established child development center, where you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care to children facing a variety of special needs and disabilities.

Key Duties
The Medical Advisor for Adoption will engage with the established Children in Care team, which includes various healthcare professionals dedicated to the welfare of children in adoption processes. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting and overseeing health assessments for children in the adoption process.
- Providing comprehensive medical reports that evaluate previous health assessments and their implications for the child's future.
- Engaging with prospective adopters to convey health information clearly and effectively.
- Submitting written evaluations regarding the health of prospective adopters, assessing their impact on child welfare.
- Participating in adoption panels by reviewing medical reports and facilitating discussions.
- Delivering training on health issues related to looked after children.
The successful candidate will also contribute to the child protection rota and participate in the neurodevelopmental service, including autism diagnostic assessments and specialized clinics.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential qualifications include GMC registration, an MBBS or equivalent, and relevant experience in paediatrics, neurodisability, and child protection. Candidates should demonstrate strong clinical skills, teamwork capabilities, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
