About the Role

The Project Engineer - Mechanical is a key member of our team, responsible for the individual management of mechanical and electrical activities to the highest possible standard of quality, efficiency, and with minimal wastage.

Key Responsibilities
  1. To ensure that all works are scoped with the client on-site using relevant resources, ensuring seamless project execution.
  2. Provide technical expertise on the repair, refurbishment, or replacement of equipment and plant, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  3. To ensure that estimates are completed on time in line with service level agreements, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  4. Attend internal launch/scope meetings with associated departments, fostering collaboration and effective communication.
  5. Develop, implement, and monitor pre-construction process plans, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  6. Attend external start-up, site visit, and design meetings, maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and sub-contractors.
  7. Arrange and attend technical meetings with clients, consultants, and sub-contractors, ensuring effective project management.
  8. Manage agreed resources, budget, scope, and program with the site services team, ensuring project goals are met.
  9. Produce commissioning plans in conjunction with the site services team, ensuring smooth project execution.
Design and Customer Interaction
  1. Liaise with internal design departments to ensure awareness of contract requirements, ensuring project alignment.
  2. Arrange and attend meetings with clients, consultants, and sub-contractors, fostering strong relationships and effective communication.
  3. Ensure drawings and documents, incoming and outgoing, are stored electronically and appropriately maintained, maintaining high levels of organization and efficiency.
  4. Produce method statements and risk assessments and other HSEQ documents for the required tasks, ensuring compliance and safety.
  5. Approve subcontractors' method statements and risk assessments, ensuring high standards of quality and safety.
  6. Handle day-to-day on-site installation and commissioning, ensuring smooth project execution.
  7. Attend pre-contract meetings with Operations/Project Manager and subcontractors, fostering collaboration and effective communication.
  8. Manage sub-contracts and orders, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  9. Attend progress meetings, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and project progress.
  10. Produce the commissioning plan in conjunction with Operations/Project Manager, ensuring smooth project execution.
  11. Manage the commissioning activities, ensuring high levels of quality and efficiency.
  12. Ensure documentation is in place for handover and signed off, maintaining high levels of organization and efficiency.
  13. Produce HSEQ paperwork for submission to the client, ensuring compliance and safety.
Health and Safety
  1. Compile relevant HSEQ documentation, ensuring compliance and safety.
  2. Carry out site inductions, toolbox talks, and accident reporting, maintaining high levels of safety and compliance.
  3. Liaise with HSEQ on relevant matters, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  4. Report any accidents/incidents or near misses that occur, maintaining high levels of safety and compliance.
  5. Highlight any concerns of any breaches of company rules and document, ensuring compliance and safety.
  6. Ensure any non-compliance issues are documented and investigated, maintaining high levels of safety and compliance.
Essential Competence Profile
  1. Previous experience working as a Mechanical Project Engineer, ensuring high levels of technical expertise and project management skills.
  2. NVQ Level 3 Engineering or HNC/HND, ensuring high levels of technical knowledge and skills.
  3. Ability to cover East Midlands and East Anglia, ensuring flexibility and adaptability.
Desirable
  1. Ideally an NVQ or equivalence in the core role, ensuring high levels of technical expertise and project management skills.
  2. CSCS Card, ensuring high levels of safety and compliance.
  3. SMSTS, ensuring high levels of safety and compliance.
