The Hawthorns Retirement is on the lookout for a dedicated and innovative individual to join our team as a Culinary Specialist. In this role, you will collaborate with our Hotel Services team to prepare, season, and create meals for our residents and guests. You will also be responsible for catering to special events. Our mission is to provide a diverse selection of nutritious, seasonal, and thoughtfully crafted meals. We believe that high-quality cuisine can be both a delightful experience and a healthy choice, ensuring that all residents can enjoy our offerings without any guilt. To qualify for this position, you should possess culinary experience, ideally within a hospitality setting, along with a relevant catering qualification and at least a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. Key responsibilities of our Culinary Specialists include: Assessing menus and daily logs to identify the types and quantities of ingredients needed for preparation. Preparing all dishes in accordance with company recipes and menus, including accommodating special dietary needs and adhering to portion control standards. Following safe food handling practices. Collaborating with fellow kitchen staff to ensure a seamless, efficient, and safe kitchen operation and meal service. Presenting food in an appealing and timely manner. Supervising the preparation and arrangement of serving trolleys. Adhering to proper procedures for covering, labeling, dating, and storing food promptly. Maintaining cleanliness in all meal preparation and service areas, including pots, pans, kitchen surfaces, walls, and floors, while following the designated cleaning schedule. Focusing on customer satisfaction and addressing any food-related concerns as necessary. Building and nurturing positive relationships with residents, their families, visitors, and colleagues.
