Job Title: Director, Environmental Planning

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to lead our Environmental Planning team in Edinburgh. As a key member of our UK-wide team, you will be responsible for developing and delivering our EIA and impact assessment services, working closely with our specialist teams to deliver high-quality projects.

About the Role

This is a strategic appointment, playing a key role in the geographical expansion of our services and boosting leadership for our presence in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of leadership and management, with experience in EIA and impact assessment. You will be responsible for building our portfolio of impact assessment projects in the energy sector and others, and for generating new business within our existing sectors and additional sectors of interest to the Director and wider team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of environmental planners to deliver high-quality EIA and impact assessment projects.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow our EIA and impact assessment services, including identifying new business opportunities and developing proposals to secure new work.
  • Work closely with our specialist teams to deliver high-quality projects, including renewable energy and energy infrastructure impact assessment.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the team, including mentoring and coaching to support their development and career progression.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders, including presenting at conferences and meetings.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of leadership and management in EIA and impact assessment.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience of managing budgets and delivering projects on time and to budget.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
