A well-established £30 million turnover contractor, Ashbrittle Careers, is seeking a Senior Cost Manager to join their organisation. They typically work in the leisure, commercial, social housing, and education sectors with typical project values up to £5m.
Main Purpose of the Role
To take responsibility, ownership, and accountability for the successful management and control of all aspects of the commercial/financial and contractual elements of the designated project in order to control and maximise the company's profitability, protect the company's legal and contractual obligations under the contract, and to manage proactively the control of all commercial issues.
This includes ensuring applications and valuations are completed in line with the contract terms and also ensuring sub-contractors receive prompt payment and are procured in line with our contractual obligations and commitments to subcontractors.
In addition, ensuring cost reports and the like are managed, completed on time, and monitored.
The Senior Cost Manager reports directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor. In the absence of either or designated Senior Manager, the individual would report to the relevant business manager or company director.
Scope of the Role
The Senior Cost Manager will be responsible for:
- Managing and controlling all aspects of the commercial/financial and contractual elements of the designated project.
- Ensuring applications and valuations are completed in line with the contract terms.
- Ensuring sub-contractors receive prompt payment and are procured in line with our contractual obligations and commitments to subcontractors.
- Managing and monitoring cost reports and other related documents.
Requirements

- Strong commercial and financial management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work proactively and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
