Career Opportunity: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Highways Division at Jackson Civil Engineering. As a key member of our commercial team, you will play a vital role in supporting our Senior Quantity Surveyors in delivering high-quality projects.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the commercial function for construction projects, including preparing plans, contracts, budgets, and bills of quantities.
  • Conduct on-site measurements and measurements of drawings as required.
  • Identify potential risks and evaluate options for control.
  • Analyze ongoing costs of maintenance and repair work.
  • Conduct feasibility studies of client requests.
  • Assist with preparing estimates and analyzing sub-contractor quotations.
  • Prepare and issue certification for contract payments to sub-contractors.
  • Assist with providing evidence for resolution of disputes.
Requirements:
  • Highly organized individual with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written English and ability to demonstrate innovative approaches to problem-solving.
  • Ability to negotiate across various levels of the construction environment.
  • Impressive numeracy skills to handle financial and mathematical demands of the role.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a civil engineering environment and undertaking the commercial function for active contracts.
  • Working knowledge of NEC forms.
