Key Responsibilities

Following a tailored support plan based on your experience, you will care for patients who are critically ill or in recovery from severe health conditions.

You will employ a broad range of skills and knowledge to provide care in a progressive and innovative unit, utilizing excellent communication abilities to support patients' families.

Staff members rotate between Heartlands and Good Hope Hospital (with the option to select a base unit), offering exceptional opportunities to develop specialized skills unique to each facility.

The Critical Care environment provides pathways for professional growth through nationally recognized competencies and beyond. Your development will be further supported by our Critical Care and Trust Clinical Education Teams.

Essential

  • Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC Register
  • Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC

Experience

Essential

  • Previous or recent experience in an acute secondary NHS care setting (including student placements within the last 12 months)
  • Evidence of achievements and career development in current role and ongoing professional development/competence
  • Experience of working independently and as part of a team in a healthcare environment, including delegating tasks and providing supervision
  • Willingness to become a practice supervisor/assessor or meet NMC standards for student supervision and assessment
  • Understanding of the NMC code of conduct
  • Knowledge of preceptorship and work-based learning
  • Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context
  • Understanding/experience of safeguarding principles and Mental Capacity
  • Awareness of health and safety issues

  • Demonstrated numeracy (including drug administration calculations) and literacy skills; ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Proficient IT skills for electronic record-keeping
  • Competent in a range of clinical skills with a willingness to undertake expanded practices relevant to the required scope
