Position Overview

We are seeking a Lead Intensive Care Nurse to become an integral part of our newly established, cutting-edge Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at HCA Healthcare UK. This facility is designed with both patient and staff needs in mind, featuring a 50-bed, multi-specialty private hospital that merges advanced clinical infrastructure with the exceptional technology and modern amenities that HCA Healthcare UK is renowned for. Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Intensive Care Nurse in our ICU, you will be pivotal in ensuring the efficient functioning of the department. We will rely on your expertise to mentor and support the broader team, utilizing your extensive clinical knowledge to guide them while also taking charge of the unit in the absence of the Ward Manager. Your role will be dynamic; one day you may be delivering specialized, intricate care to a patient, and the next, you could be overseeing the operations of our six-bed unit. Job Duties

As a Lead Intensive Care Nurse, you will assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate high standards of specialized care to ensure that our patients receive safe, compassionate, and comfortable treatment. This will involve addressing physical, psychological, and spiritual needs through effective communication with patients, their families, and your colleagues.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care to meet the needs of patients and their families.
  • Managing the planning and delivery of care for patient admissions and discharges.
  • Performing advanced procedures such as venipuncture, cannulation, and phlebotomy.
  • Contributing to ongoing research-based care and other practice development initiatives.
  • Collaborating with junior staff, delegating tasks, and supervising care in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Recognizing signs of patient deterioration and initiating early interventions in a calm and coordinated manner.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Registered General Nurse with a valid NMC pin.
  • Experience in Cardiac or General ICU.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated care, compassion, and empathy.
  • Completion of a Critical Care Course (60 credits).
