**Job Summary**

Leonardo UK Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Materials Scientist/FA Engineer to lead a technical service group, providing expertise in materials science and defect investigation across various engineering disciplines.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide a value-added defect investigation service to the company, taking into account customer requirements.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the technical service group, including lab facilities, health and safety, and maintenance.
  • Supervise and support the development of team members in the field of defect investigation and materials science.
  • Offer materials science support to the engineering community, working across mechanical, electronic, and optical activities.
  • Advance expertise in materials science, particularly in adhesives and surface preparation.

**Requirements:**

  • Relevant degree in science or engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Self-management and self-motivation with a focus on continuous development.
  • Ability to develop lab skills, such as micro-section preparation, optical, and electron microscopy.
  • Ability to advise on materials science issues to the wider company.
  • Well-rounded experience in all phases of the product life cycle across several projects and multiple engineering domains.
  • Experience with customer/supplier relations and working within multi-discipline project teams.
