Your New Role...

As a vital member of our Programming Planning team, you will play a key role in the strategic scheduling and forward planning of our linear channels. Collaborating closely with the Planning Manager or Senior Planning Manager, you will be responsible for optimizing channel schedules to enhance both revenue and audience engagement.

Your expertise will be essential in analyzing available programming stock, understanding target demographics, and keeping abreast of competitive strategies. You will also be expected to support the scheduling and windowing strategies for our channels, contributing innovative ideas and initiatives to enhance our offerings.

Key Responsibilities...

  • Collaborate with the (Snr) Planning Manager to devise comprehensive scheduling strategies that align with brand objectives.
  • Develop and implement forward plans that maximize performance and adhere to brand standards.
  • Utilize editorial insight to evaluate programming and ensure alignment with audience preferences.
  • Monitor channel performance and propose both short-term and long-term initiatives to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Partner with the Insights team to deepen understanding of audience behavior and market trends.
  • Identify opportunities for leveraging our content archive through strategic stacks, stunts, or partnerships.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates to the Discovery+ forward plan in collaboration with the Discovery+ Planning Executive.
  • Maintain a comprehensive program stock list and stay informed about programming initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Input schedules into our scheduling system, adhering to best practices in collaboration with the Senior Planning Manager.
  • Distribute schedules and changes effectively, coordinating with team members to avoid conflicts and optimize content windowing.
  • Stay informed about competitor schedules and current events to inform scheduling decisions.

Qualifications & Experience...

  • Proven experience in program planning or scheduling, with familiarity in scheduling software preferred.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends and key insights.
  • Confident and assertive problem-solver with a proactive approach.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage a dynamic workload with shifting priorities.
  • Solid understanding of audience research and viewing data across various platforms.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for television and content strategy, particularly in non-scripted genres.
