Safety and Compliance Manager

Key Responsibilities
- Foster a proactive safety culture, serving as a standard-bearer for best practices in Health and Safety, while engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a role model for Health and Safety excellence within the process industry at the facility.
- Collaborate with relevant regulatory bodies to ensure compliance.
- Lead initiatives related to Health and Safety legislation and regulations, coordinating with necessary organizations.
- Engage with Divisional EHS, adhering to established procedures for reporting.
- Support line management in maintaining Health and Safety compliance on a daily basis, driving ongoing improvements and ensuring that all standards are consistently met.
- Assist the Environmental Manager by focusing on site operations and the implementation of EHS Management systems and Policies.
- Oversee the development and management of procedures and systems for ISO 45001 certification.
- Contribute to the systems and procedures for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification as necessary.
- Champion the reporting of near misses and incidents, providing guidance for initial investigations and resolution.
- Conduct audits and reviews to ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety protocols, including Permit to Work (PTW) and Management of Change (MOC), and participate as a key member of the Internal Audit team.
- Support the maintenance team in developing and managing internal Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for all activities.
- Serve as a primary contact for Health and Safety inquiries, making informed decisions and providing clarity on proposed actions.
- Facilitate emergency response drills and reporting.
- Actively participate in and lead the Site Safety Committee.
- Conduct Health and Safety reviews for contractors and long-term third-party personnel.
- Provide training and coaching to colleagues on Health and Safety protocols and systems.
Qualifications
This role will be instrumental in guiding line management to ensure that Health & Safety standards are upheld across the BYK UK site.
The successful candidate will take a proactive approach to enhance Health and Safety performance, engaging hands-on in daily operations to support all facets of Health and Safety. This will involve close collaboration with site operational and maintenance teams to guarantee the safe execution of all tasks, as well as assisting third-party service providers in their engineering operations.
The position will require close cooperation with the Environmental Manager.
