About the Role
Croda is seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer to join our team at our Widnes manufacturing site. As a Process Safety Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical process safety expertise to support the promotion of and engagement in process and workplace safety, health, and environment (SHE) initiatives.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to apply process safety knowledge and leadership skills to maintain safe and reliable operations and facilitate the delivery of site objectives.
- Work under the guidance of the Lead Process Engineer to provide technical support and expertise to ensure compliance with relevant engineering codes and standards.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of relevant engineering codes and standards and demonstrate their practical application.
- Support the development and implementation of process safety management systems and procedures.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of process safety documentation, including procedures, guidelines, and training materials.
- Provide input to the development of process safety training programs and materials.
- Support the identification and mitigation of process safety risks and hazards.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of process safety metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Requirements
- Chemical or Process Engineering degree.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Process Engineering or Process Safety.
- Strong understanding of process safety principles and experience of undertaking and participating in safety studies, including PSSR, Pressure Relief, Risk Assessments, Hazard Studies, LoPA, ALARP Demonstration, PUWER, and DSEAR.
- Able to provide monthly and quarterly updates on process safety KPIs.
- Experience of Management of Change systems and procedures.
- High degree of analytical and numeracy skills.
- Proficient in report writing, producing documentation, and the development of procedures and training.
- Experience of supporting production/manufacturing operations.
- Experience of working within multi-discipline teams.
- Able to troubleshoot, problem solve, analyze data, and suggest improvements.
- Able to specify process equipment and produce datasheets.
- Able to undertake project scoping, PFD/P&ID development, and design documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work and communicate with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
Desirable Qualifications
- Relevant Master's degree or equivalent.
- Human Factors.
- Project management and planning skills/experience.
- NEBOSH (General).
- CAD.
- SAP.
