About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Team Manager to join our team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. As a Pharmacy Team Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of pharmacy technicians, scientists, and trainees, and supporting a team of pharmacists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and prioritize the day-to-day work of the team to ensure departmental work is completed within agreed timescales.
  • Coordinate cover for annual leave, sickness, study days, and lieu time.
  • Prioritize workload effectively and analyze situations to resolve problems.
  • Contribute to service developments, ensuring change is managed smoothly, and audit service against set standards.
  • Support and maintain a high-quality service, conducted according to national and local guidance, to users within the Pharmacy department, throughout the UHB, and external customers.
  • Report departmental statistics, including errors and incidents, to manager on a monthly basis and identify possible areas for improvement.
  • Provide specialist advice to patients regarding any MA-related query received by the department.
  • Provide a regular service to the dispensary or Medicines Management, including dispensing and accuracy checking medicines.
  • Understand the competing priorities of risk management and financial pressures to manage the MA centre information resources effectively.
  • Responsible for training and supporting technical pharmacy staff in the delivery of medicines advice.
  • Act as Key Trainer for MA, ensuring all staff are trained in local practices.
  • Establish and maintain links with other senior technicians, managers, and other pharmacy staff to ensure the service meets their needs.

Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or NVQ level 3 in pharmacy services.
    • Registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Desirable:
    • Supervisory or management qualification.
    • NVQ A1 assessor award.
