About the Role
Cancer Research UK is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Store Manager to join our trading team. As a Store Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of paid staff and volunteers, guiding and inspiring them to achieve sales and fundraising targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of staff and volunteers, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to ensure they are equipped to meet sales and fundraising targets.
- Take ownership of the commercial running of the store, including display and merchandising, stock management, maintaining shop standards, sales, and income.
- Provide excellent customer and supporter service, leading by example and setting high standards for the team.
- Maximise profit through effective cost control and sales, ensuring the store is operating efficiently and effectively.
- Build relationships with the local community and Cancer Research UK colleagues, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
- Organise and run creative fundraising events to achieve fundraising targets, working closely with the team to develop and implement event plans.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, security, administration, and HR policies, ensuring the store is a safe and healthy environment for staff and customers.
Requirements
- Experience of managing and inspiring a diverse team of people, with a proven track record of achieving sales and fundraising targets.
- Comfort working within targets and motivating others to achieve those targets, with a strong focus on customer service and sales.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of what makes great customer service, with a focus on delivering exceptional experiences for customers and supporters.
- Commercial awareness, with a strong understanding of sales and fundraising strategies.
- Knowledge of high street fashion retail, with a focus on merchandising and stock management.
- Adaptability in changing situations, including being able to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Awareness of the price, value, and worth of items, with a focus on delivering excellent value to customers.
- Flexibility, with a willingness to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the store.
