Manchester, United Kingdom GMCA Full time

Salary: £41,418 - £45,441

Hours: Full time 36.25 per week

Contract: Permanent

Your Role:

As the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) progresses into its next chapter, we are seeking a skilled governance and scrutiny officer to enhance our esteemed team. This position is pivotal in establishing effective governance frameworks that empower the organization to serve the residents of Greater Manchester efficiently.

Effective governance is essential for fostering collaboration. Our team plays a central role in developing decision-making pathways and facilitating opportunities for key stakeholders to convene in productive environments.

If you are dedicated to the Greater Manchester area and believe in the transformative power of effective governance to positively influence the lives of our residents, this position may be an excellent fit for you.

About You:

We are in search of a seasoned governance officer who possesses extensive knowledge from a background in governance, public administration, or a related discipline. This role involves supporting high-level statutory meetings, coordinating agendas, producing minutes, overseeing action delivery, and providing procedural guidance.

A comprehensive understanding of local government structures and processes, along with the role of the GMCA, is crucial as you will be tasked with identifying opportunities to enhance governance across the organization and with partner entities.

You will need to cultivate strong collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including elected officials, to collectively achieve the objectives outlined in the Greater Manchester Strategy.

This role offers the chance to conduct research and assess intelligence while ensuring our governance processes comply with relevant legislation.

We seek a highly organized individual with meticulous attention to detail, political acumen, and strong communication skills adaptable to various audiences.

About Us:

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) encompasses several key strategic functions and service providers, including the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Waste and Resources, Environment, Work and Skills, Research, Public Sector Reform, Police, Crime and Criminal Justice, Homelessness, the Greater Manchester Ageing Hub, and the Commissioning Hub.

We value the diversity of our workforce and strive to recruit a team that reflects the varied communities across Greater Manchester. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy, race, religion, or sexual orientation. We have established guidelines to ensure fair and consistent treatment of all applicants throughout the recruitment process, including reasonable adjustments for individuals with disabilities.

Our Offer:

In recognition of your dedication, we provide a competitive benefits package, details of which can be found in our employee offer documentation.
