Job Title: Senior Data Governance Lead

Join H M Revenue & Customs (HMRC) as a Senior Data Governance Lead and play a crucial role in ensuring the effective management of data across the organization.

About the Role

The Senior Data Governance Lead will be responsible for overseeing the movement of bulk data, ensuring relevant data transfer documentation is in place, and engaging with stakeholders to prepare documentation for accuracy prior to data transfer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assure the drafting and development of data exchange documentation, including MoUs, DPIAs, and CoRAs.
  • Ensure all projects are UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) compliant.
  • Collaborate with GovDET and internal and external stakeholders to resolve data exchange issues.
  • Embed a risk management culture within the Data Analytics Team, overseeing the implementation of a Tier 5 risk management framework.
  • Maintain management information on data exchanges, recharge of Analysts time, and respond to demand-led MIS requests as required.
Requirements
  • A strong understanding of data security and GDPR, as well as how data is used to support compliance activity, including bulk data movements internally and across government.
  • Comfortable in supporting and undertaking collaborative working across government at senior grades to produce quality outputs.
  • Experience identifying capability gaps and developing long-term capability plans relative to data security and governance.
  • An understanding of risk management, including recording, mitigating, and escalating risks.
