This position involves approximately 70% driving, but the successful applicant MUST be ready to engage in all responsibilities outlined in the job description.

Role Overview:
The Trade Counter Assistant/Driver will be an integral part of the Rugby Branch team. The ideal candidate will possess experience in retail, trades, or construction, emphasizing customer support, communication, and outstanding interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in daily branch operations alongside the Branch Manager and Supervisor, setting a positive example.
  • Drive trade counter sales to meet targets while confidently sharing product knowledge with customers.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to both new and existing clients.
  • Handle picking, loading, and delivering products to customers using company vehicles.
  • Manage route planning, ensure safe driving, and maintain cleanliness of the company vehicle.
  • Support the Branch Manager with timely and complete actions and activities.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Strive for excellence in customer service, operational standards, and branch sales targets.
  • Foster positive customer relationships while contributing to sales goals.
  • Assist in the overall operations of the branch.
  • Provide support to branch colleagues as needed.
  • Maintain branch standards, including warehouse organization, stock management, and cleanliness of the front of house.
Candidate Profile:
  • Ability to organize workload effectively to meet deadlines while remaining flexible to urgent matters.
  • Enthusiasm and energy to deliver outstanding customer service and achieve business objectives.
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach, eager to engage with customers and potential clients.
  • A commercial mindset to drive sales and maximize margins, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and use initiative.
  • Proficient in IT, with experience in MS Office and industry-standard software such as SAP.
  • A valid driving license is essential; a Forklift Truck (FLT) license is a plus.
  • Experience in branch stock management is advantageous.
  • Comfortable working both in a small team and independently.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a trade, builders merchant, retail, glazing, or uPVC environment is preferred.
