Job Title: Principal Quality Engineer

Job Summary:

Assystem is a leading international company dedicated to accelerating the energy transition worldwide. As a Principal Quality Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting client projects by providing quality assurance, management, and control services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence of client and supply-chain adherence to contracted quality requirements within client programmes and projects.
  • Support client programmes in achieving adherence with project-wide quality arrangements.
  • Ensure appropriate project-specific quality arrangements are established.
  • Implement quality for all activities within the scope of the programme, including manufacturing inspection and test plans, life-time quality records, and root cause analysis.
  • Work closely with project functions and the supply-chain to ensure project quality is delivered consistently and compliant with nuclear safety standards.
  • Lead project quality direction and provide leadership and support on the application of specific quality activities within projects/contracts.
  • Define quality arrangements for the safe, efficient, and right-first-time delivery of project activities.
  • Approve project quality plans and manufacturing inspection and test plans in a consistent manner.
  • Direct and undertake surveillance/inspection activities, provide guidance on acceptability criteria, and ensure data capture and analysis of quality metrics.
  • Have oversight of the non-conformance process, identify project-wide preventative action, and facilitate timely closure of non-conformance reports.
  • Contribute to the planning and lead work stream and cross-project audits as required.
  • Lead a team of quality practitioners and deliver day-to-day quality management activities requested by the client.
  • Lead quality records reviews and checks to ensure quality is delivered by the supply-chain and the project team efficiently and in accordance with specified requirements.
  • Participate in the production/review of the programme quality delivery arrangements plan and specific manufacturing inspection and test plans.
  • Participate in the review and acceptance of quality plans/inspection and test plans provided by the supply-chain.
  • Support the client by taking the lead on establishing effective quality assurance, manufacturing/site surveillance programmes/plans that enable coverage of identified risks.
  • Ensure that appropriate controls are established with respect to the provision of quality records or 'end of reports' by sub-contractors.
  • Support the effective close-out of non-conformances through the engagement of subject matter experts and the application of project-wide preventative action.
  • Support quality auditors (client and sub-contractor based) in the prompt resolution of audit findings within the supply-chain and the project team.
  • Ensure effective participation in programme and project risk and opportunity reviews, including lessons learned reviews by the client.
  • Participate in and lead investigations related to quality issues.
  • Provide leadership in the provision of regular quality reports on delivery of quality (product and process) by the supply chain and the project team, supply chain capability/readiness and performance, quality records RFT, backlog, etc.

Requirements:

  • Experience in large/complicated project environments, preferably in the nuclear (or heavily regulated) sector, with significant focus on product/project quality role, and with a specific engineering discipline knowledge.
  • A dynamic individual who is a team leader as well as a team player and has a solid understanding of quality assurance and control principles, and process management in projects.
  • Understanding of working in an international quality environment.
  • Experience planning and conducting internal and supplier audits.
  • The ability to carry out unsupervised inspections to appropriate standards, e.g., pressurized systems.
  • Experience in the review of quality records, e.g., life-time quality records.
  • Experience in the analysis of quality data at various levels across the business.
  • Experience in the application of quality basic and advanced tools and techniques.
  • Pro-active and flexible, being prepared to plan and work on own initiative across a broad range of issues to drive performance against all dimensions of the quality systems.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English language, preferably with some French or second language skills.
  • Member Grade Member of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) and a Chartered Quality Practitioner or equivalent through an appropriate chartered institute.
  • Formally recognized qualification in quality, e.g., diploma or advanced diploma in quality.
  • Qualified to (preferably engineering) diploma/degree level as a minimum.
