Overview: Astute People is collaborating with a prominent energy firm in the UK to find a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in strategic operations for its Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) facility.

Compensation: The Senior Mechanical Engineer position offers a competitive salary of up to £68,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes private medical insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute engineering and maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance operational performance.
  • Evaluate critical plant components and apply reliability-centered maintenance methodologies to optimize all planned and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement agenda by conducting root cause analyses as necessary.
  • Develop both medium- and long-term enhancement and investment strategies, including planning for major component replacements.
  • Oversee the management of the site's Asset Risk database to accurately reflect significant changes.
  • Provide mentorship to fellow strategy engineers and offer technical assistance to the mechanical maintenance team responsible for daily operations.
  • Lead the design and execution of technically intricate projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and adhere to quality standards.
  • Act as the primary reviewer for plant modifications, coordinating technical design evaluations and approvals for implementation.
  • Collaborate with operational, delivery, and contracting teams to ensure that maintenance strategies and operational practices are optimized.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of an HNC, or ideally an HND in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least three years of experience in a maintenance role within a heavy industrial setting (such as power generation, refining, or petrochemicals).
  • A comprehensive understanding of power station operations, particularly Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT).
  • Possession of an IOSH or NEBOSH certification is preferred.
