We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Residential Child Care Officer to join our team at our site in Ashington. As a key member of our residential care team, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day care and support to children and young people, as well as leading shifts and supervising staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Shifts and Support Staff Team
  • Organise and Prioritise Day-to-Day Tasks
  • Supervise Staff with Key Work Responsibilities
  • Be Part of the On-Call Rota (Paid at an Additional Rate)
  • Provide Day-to-Day Care for Children in Our Care
  • Keep Children Safe and Be Committed to Safeguarding
  • Act as a Parental Figure and Positive Adult Role Model
  • Bring Ideas and Partake in Activities, Crafts, Sports, Hobbies, and Encourage Children to Try New Things
  • Be Involved in Domestic Routines, Laundry, Food Preparation, Shopping, etc.
  • Be Included on a Work Rota
  • Record Keeping and Administration as Required
  • Be Constantly Vigilant on Health and Safety Matters
  • Attend Staff Meetings and Any Other Meetings as Required
  • Complete Mandatory Training and Regulatory Training as Required
  • Transport Children to School, Activities, Health Appointments, and Family Contact

About You

  • QCF Level 3 Children and Young People's Workforce Diploma (or Equivalent) is Essential
  • Understanding of Child Development, Therapeutic Parenting, the Needs of Children, and a Commitment to Supporting Young People is Essential
  • Residential Childcare Experience is Essential
  • At Least 1 Year Supervisory Experience
  • Be Able to Follow All Organisation Policies
  • You Will Be Working as Part of a Team of Residential Childcare Workers, So Good Communication, Flexibility, and Teamwork is Essential
  • Possess Diverse Skills and Be Able to Empathise with Children with Complex Needs and Manage a Range of Challenging Behaviours
  • Be Willing to Work on a Shift Rota System Which Involves Daytime, Evening, and Night Work
  • Good Organisational and Time Management
