About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at Brook Street Social Care. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality support to care experienced young people aged 16-25 who are leaving care and transitioning to independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with young people who have complex needs and present challenging behavior.
  • Support and work with young people to develop all aspects of independent living skills, social/life skills, problem-solving and planning skills, and reducing risk-taking behavior.
  • Work across various settings, including supported living services and group living settings, to provide trauma-informed, nurturing environments that prioritize emotional, relational, and environmental security.
  • Collaborate with Key Workers to achieve positive outcomes and maintain the safety and well-being of each young person.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized support plans that address the unique needs and goals of each young person.

Requirements:

  • Enthusiasm and commitment to working with hard-to-reach young people who have had poor experiences.
  • Ability to build positive relationships quickly and manage a range of behaviors using a calm, reassuring approach underpinned by support and supervision.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in high-challenge, high-support environments (desirable).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and risk management, as well as equality and diversity.
  • Self-motivated and confident with the ability to work unsupervised.
