Overview

At Fortius, a distinguished Centre of Excellence in orthopaedics and sports medicine, you will join a dedicated team responsible for providing essential support for surgical instruments across multiple operating theatres.

Your role will involve collaborating closely with theatre personnel to ensure the effective management and organization of surgical instruments, contributing to the seamless execution of surgical procedures in a safe and efficient manner. Additionally, you will assist in overseeing the supply chain of materials and clinical services within the surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal inventory management of surgical instruments, guaranteeing their availability for surgical procedures.
  • Verify incoming items against delivery documentation to confirm accuracy and condition.
  • Coordinate with theatre staff and medical professionals to ensure the availability of both standard and specialized instruments for surgical operations.
  • Engage with surgical suppliers for rental equipment and manage related administrative tasks and purchase orders.
  • Collaborate with external sterilization service providers to maintain high service standards.
  • Oversee the timely decontamination and return of loaned instruments to suppliers.
  • Facilitate instrument and equipment repairs in coordination with service providers.
  • Participate in quarterly inventory audits and conduct daily stock assessments as needed.
  • Manage invoicing for stock and instruments, addressing discrepancies with suppliers in conjunction with the accounts payable team.
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to the department's filing protocols.
  • Work with suppliers to manage consignment stock and instruments.
  • Support other departments in their inventory and equipment needs as required.
  • Process requisitions and purchase orders on behalf of Fortius.
  • Assist in evaluating new products and services, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and organization in handling unexpected workflows.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the line manager.
Performance Indicators:
  • Maintain precise inventory records and ensure all relevant documentation is organized.
  • Foster strong relationships with theatre teams, consultants, and company representatives.
  • Stay current with mandatory training requirements.
  • Contribute ideas for continuous improvement within the team.


Qualifications and Experience

Essential Skills

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Proficient in IT, particularly with Excel and Word.

Experience in inventory management.

Ability to collaborate effectively with staff at all levels.

Quality-focused with the ability to remain composed under pressure.

Desirable Skills

Experience in theatre settings, particularly with orthopaedic instruments.

Familiarity with computerized inventory control and ordering systems.
