Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Optometrist to join our team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Optometrist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality eye care services to our patients.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing specialist optometric services to patients of all ages, including those with complex eye conditions.
  • Working closely with the Head of Department to deliver a comprehensive range of specialist optometric services.
  • Leading a team of optometrists and providing clinical supervision and guidance.
  • Developing and implementing new clinical services and protocols to improve patient care.
  • Participating in clinical research and audit activities to improve patient outcomes.
  • Providing teaching and training to junior staff and students.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Registration as an Optometrist with the General Optical Council.
  • Specialist knowledge across a range of optometric procedures and practices.
  • Experience of working in a hospital setting and leading a team of optometrists.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
