About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Optometrist to join our team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Optometrist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality optometric services to our patients, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialist optometric services to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex eye conditions.
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner, taking responsibility for the operation of information systems and coordinating the deployment of staff.
  • Lead clinician for specific optometric services, such as contact lens or low vision services.
  • Undertake clinical audit and research, as well as teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Provide clinical expertise and guidance to junior staff, and participate in audit teams to improve service delivery.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Registration as an Optometrist with the General Optical Council.
  • Specialist knowledge across a range of optometric procedures and practices.
  • Experience in working with patients, carers, and colleagues in highly distressing or emotional circumstances.
  • Ability to work in an indoor confined environment, largely in semi-darkness, with some exposure to hazards.
