Job Title: Bank Optometrist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bank Optometrist to join our team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Bank Optometrist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality eye care services to our patients.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive range of specialist optometric services, including refraction, biometry, medical contact lens practice, and low vision services. You will work closely with the Head of Department to ensure the highest standards of quality and patient care are maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide optometric assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients of all ages, including those with varying degrees of visual disability and communication skills.
  2. Work as an autonomous practitioner, taking responsibility for the management of one of the specialist services provided by the Optometry Department.
  3. Undertake clinical audit and research as agreed with the Head of Optometry Department.
  4. Provide teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for various disciplines within ophthalmology.
  5. Take a major role in the preparation, organisation, and delivery of teaching programmes provided by the Optometry Department.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret policy, advise, and guide others.
  • Physical ability to move major clinical equipment and examine patients.
