Job Title: Commercial Officer

Contract Type: Full Time, 12-month fixed term contract with possible extension, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

We are seeking a Commercial Officer to support our team at Mears Group. As a Commercial Officer, you will be working on a Central Government accommodation contract, reporting to the Contract Delivery Director.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Commercial & General Manager with commercial control and reporting on high standard commercial activities to Housing properties.
  • Deliver best-in-class commercial acumen, customer service, and satisfy all safety, quality, and cost control standards.
  • Ensure accuracy of work order pricing by reviewing and quality checking work orders, including subcontractor data submissions.
  • Price subcontractor works and liaise with subcontractors to resolve any queries or disputes with completion.
  • Report any discrepancies or trends in pricing to the Commercial Manager to ensure codes claimed are correct, within job specifications, and that all costs can be recovered without causing payment issues or delays.
  • Provide coding advice to the Planning Team when required to ensure jobs are raised or varied correctly.
  • Manage the contract procurement database, ensuring all certificates are reviewed, work in progress for all work streams, and out of hours rota.
  • Process all additional payments for staff.
  • Ensure the customer experience is central to all activities by adopting a professional manner when communicating with all stakeholders.
  • Maintain a high standard of Health & Safety requirements and keep all supplied company assets in good condition in line with company policies.
  • Provide assistance with any other tasks that may arise commercially within the branch, including debt ledger, invoicing, unallocated cash, and forecasting.
  • Attend informal and formal company & client meetings and training sessions as required.
