Key Responsibilities

As the Commercial Operations Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial and contractual elements of various projects from start to finish. Your role will ensure compliance with contractual obligations and the achievement of financial targets.

  • Lead and mentor the commercial team, providing necessary support and direction.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and documentation to fully understand project requirements and limitations.
  • Negotiate and manage agreements with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, focusing on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating terms to minimize risks and enhance profitability.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with subcontractors and clients.
  • Utilize industry-standard estimating tools to prepare precise cost estimates, ensuring adherence to company standards and best practices.
  • Monitor project budgets and financial outcomes, analyzing discrepancies and implementing corrective measures to keep projects financially on track.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to create accurate cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts.
  • Conduct regular financial reporting and analysis to provide insights into project performance, including profitability, cash flow, and risk management.
  • Offer guidance and support to project teams on commercial issues, including contract interpretation and conflict resolution.
Qualifications
  • HNC, HND, or a bachelor’s degree in construction management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience as an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, or Commercial Manager within the brickwork or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, procurement practices, and commercial management principles.
  • Expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions.
  • Proven leadership and management capabilities, with a track record of motivating teams to meet project goals.
  • Possession of a valid UK Driving License.
