Position Title: Lead Structural Engineer

Location: Hybrid Working Arrangement

Contract Duration: 6 Months

Compensation: £60 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)

Security Clearance: BPSS with potential for SC

Role Overview:
The primary objective of this position is to provide assistance and support to the Design Manager in executing project objectives, including the management of design deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Prioritize personal health and safety as well as that of colleagues, adhering to Health and Safety regulations and company policies, including Diversity & Inclusion and Performance Management.
2. Ensure that team members and contractors are well-informed about the hazards and risks associated with their tasks through effective communication and management of Risk Assessments.
3. Delegate tasks to the designated team of Designers, review their drawing outputs, and ensure inter-disciplinary coordination in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
4. Provide guidance in selecting appropriate methods and tools for tasks, offering technical support to the assigned team of Designers.
5. Contribute to the creation and production of drawings that meet basic, detailed, and production design requirements, adhering to recognized ISO standards while fulfilling time, cost, and quality expectations.
6. Serve as a liaison with professional engineering peers and various stakeholders regarding discipline-related matters throughout the design lifecycle, participate in design reviews, and ensure design coordination and functionality.
7. Assist in resolving Production & Technical Queries and developing discipline-specific solutions for the team concerning manufacturing and installation challenges.
8. Contribute to the Learning from Experience (LfE) initiative during and after project completion.
9. Develop innovative design solutions and fulfill Design Lead responsibilities as assigned for low-risk, multi-disciplinary projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in remedial works involving concrete and steel
- Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) experience
- Proficiency in concrete and steel design
- Experience in contractor management
- Background in the nuclear sector or heavy civil engineering
- Ideally, chartered status with a relevant institution (e.g., ICE or IStructE)
