SABIC UK Petrochemicals Limited operates from multiple sites, focusing on manufacturing and storage. Our Olefins 6 facility is a significant ethylene production site, contributing to essential chemical products that form the basis of various materials and plastics used in everyday life.

With a workforce exceeding 300 full-time employees and over 400 contractors, we significantly impact the local economy through our operations.

JOB OBJECTIVE & KEY FUNCTIONS

The Area Maintenance Engineer (AME) plays a crucial role within the Maintenance team, tasked with ensuring the effective specification, planning, scheduling, and management of maintenance activities in line with operational requirements and engineering standards. This position carries essential compliance responsibilities critical to the safe operation of the facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold engineering standards and policies within the Olefins 6 area, adhering to asset maintenance processes.
  • Oversee the execution of maintenance engineering tasks in alignment with business and regulatory demands.
  • Ensure the planning and execution of maintenance work to maintain safety, integrity, reliability, and production efficiency.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and procedures.
  • Manage the maintenance budget as directed by the Olefins 6 Maintenance Manager.
  • Assume delegated responsibilities from the Maintenance Manager as necessary.

Additional Duties:

  • Engage with stakeholders across operational and technical functions.
  • Advocate for corporate values at both local and global levels.
  • Serve as a guardian of engineering standards, both internal and international.
  • Interact with external regulatory bodies to safeguard SABIC's compliance and operational licenses.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Science, Engineering, or Maintenance with a comprehensive understanding of chemistry and petrochemical technology.
  • Professional Engineering qualification (Incorporated or Chartered) from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in the petrochemical sector, focusing on Engineering or Maintenance.
  • Strong conceptual, communication, and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Extensive knowledge of interconnected business units and functions within the industry.
  • Exceptional presentation and networking skills.
  • Familiarity with IT systems, including Microsoft Office and SAP (CMMS).
  • Experience in a multicultural environment, with the ability to influence and engage at senior management levels.

All engineering disciplines will be considered, with a preference for candidates with backgrounds in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation engineering.
